Pictures of Lladro Figurines ~ Vacation Souvenirs from Spain
80Lladro porcelains
Generally speaking when on vacation our favorite souvenirs are just pictures, but we made an exception when visiting Spain in 1992 and came back with six Lladro figurines.
My husband and I were taking tours of both Barcelona and also some on the Island of Mallorca where we were staying.
Our main focus was getting to enjoy not only the opening ceremonies but also some of the Summer Olympic events in Barcelona, but these side-line tours gave us more of a perspective of what these parts of Spain had to offer tourists.
When one of the tours stopped at a Lladro retail establishment, we fell in love with these distinctive figurines and the prices were much better than had we purchased the same pieces in the United States.
So, like most of the others on the tour group with us, we transported a number of these collectible porcelains back to the hotel where we were staying and then by airplane home to Houston.

Lladro collectibles
Lladro collectibles have been successfully marketed worldwide and are admired for their unique and distinctive styling and glazes.
This glazing process is a tightly held company secret and while there are other fine porcelain makers, none of them produce anything that has the same appearance as do these endearing figures.
Three brothers started this enterprise...Juan, José and Vincente Lladro in 1953.
Originally in a small village near Valencia, Spain, it was moved a few years later as they continually needed more space and employees to Tavernes Blanques in 1958.
Now thousands of people are in their employ producing these charming porcelain figurines.

Lladro angels
Had we wished to buy angels in almost any form, there was a huge selection.
From cute little cherubs to large angels with fabulous wingspans and numerous postures, the choices were many.
Entire nativity scenes with accompanying angels could have been ours for the right price!

Lladro figures
There were so many choices of Lladro figures from which to choose and as you can probably tell by the majority of my photos, my husband and I were primarily drawn to the ones with animals except for one exception.
We were purchasing the Lladro figurines for not only ourselves but as gifts for both of our mothers as well.
Since our mothers are now deceased, we have all of them back in our possession.
Unlike other objects that we have acquired through the years and then decided to discard because of new decor or some other reason, these Lladro porcelains still very much please us.

While our Lladro collection is not that large, each piece we chose as vacation souvenirs from Spain had special meaning for us.
Hope that you enjoyed these pictures of our Lladro figurines and it is nice knowing that there is an almost unlimited choice of subject matter and pricing to please the most discerning of persons on anyone's gift list.
We had fun learning a bit more about the history and process of making these fine collectible porcelains and hope that you did also.

Hi Peggy, my family loves Lladro. When my parents got married (remarried when I was a teen), they got a lladro porcelain piece as a gift from my grandmother. It is so amazingly beautiful. We love Lladro, and what a wonderful souvenir indeed. Thanks for sharing more about Lladro, it is such beautiful art!
Peggy, thanks for putting this Hub together and including all the super background information. I don't collect these, but I have many friends who do. Lladro pieces are always kept in a place of honor in their homes, always on display to enjoy. Up and awesome!

Peggy probably some good deals on Lladro on eBay, Craigs List, discount merchants etc - I remember reading somewhere about the problems in Spain and people selling over there and Lladro's name came up.
Peggy as always you deliver a fantastic article.
You have an excellent Lladro collection and I can see how it gets addictive - nicely done :)
When I was a llttle girl, my mom had a collection of Llardo figurines, they are so beautiful, of course I was never allowed to touch them. When my parents divorced, she had to sell them to keep food on the table...I have forgotten all about them till now, thanks for the reminder...they are very special!
Thanks for the information. I have a few that I have collected.
Lladro had a complete different style but yet so uniqoely appealling. Thank you for a wonderful hub.
These are lovely! My mom really likes this kind of stuff. I'll try to remember to show this hub to her. Thanks for sharing. :)

Those are some really nice pieces. I have always wanted to go to Spain. I doubt I ever get there. Cool hub
Beautiful craftsmenship and memories! My daughter inherited some of these and years and years of Hummel plates. She needs to research the value of them.
Peggy, The Lladro's figurines are exquisite and I can see why you were attracted to them. I imagine you never get tired of looking at them and what a wonderful keepsake from from your trip to Spain.
Peggy,
This is a beautiful and interesting hub of Lladro's figurines from Spain. You have a great collection of figurines. I love your videos and expressions of Lladro's beautiful art.
they are lovely I bought a cat (surprise surprise) in the early 90's and my mother has some lovely peices that she bought in the 80's when father was stationed in Gibraltar.
Awesomely exquisite! Thank you Peggy. I can always depend on you for exquisite entertainment. God bless!
These were not artistic endeavors except in a commercial sense. They were made to mail to customers and mostly would be thrown out after awhile.AI just did some routine assembly. If I ever find the figurines I will add them to my hub about Dad, but I think they are buried in my daughters storage facility.
I can see why you were attracted to these figurines. I believe I would be too. When my fathe died he was just getting into doing some commercial art making figurines for advertising campaigns. I loved working on those--just casting and some painting, nothing really artistic but it was fun.

Hi oceansnsunsets,
Your parents receiving a Lladro figurine as a wedding gift from your grandmother was really nice. They are beautiful as you can attest and often grow in value verses many gifts that decrease in value over time. So this type of art is wonderful to receive as a gift. Thank you for your comment. We certainly enjoy our souvenirs!
